The Freedom of Art: On Change, Transformation, and Creative Diversity
The art world has always been a space of change and transformation. Artists from Gerhard Richter to Anselm Kiefer have shown that true creativity knows no fixed boundaries. Instead, styles, techniques, and forms of expression constantly evolve to explore new dimensions of art. This dynamic is something I, Konrad Wulfmeier, consciously promote in my work. To me, quantum means not only keeping an open mind but also embracing and celebrating the continuous change and transformation of art.
In my work, Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role. However, AI is not just a tool; it is a constantly evolving medium. Words and sentences fed into an AI are transformed into visual images, which are then further transformed by the elements – fire, earth, water, and air. Nothing is static. Just as nature is in a constant state of flux, so are the creative processes. AI will bring about a significant change in art, continually reinventing itself. It is this constant movement and transformation that shape my art.
In the creative process of my works, whether in pouring or classic abstract techniques, I experience this change firsthand. Art does not simply emerge; it matures, grows, and transforms. Just as a seed germinates in the earth and develops into a plant, so a work of art goes through various stages of maturation. It takes on new forms, gains depth and expressiveness. By using fire, earth, water, and air, I bring these natural transformations into my works. Each element contributes to further developing the art and giving it a different mode of expression.
Fire stands for the passion and burning that drive a creative process. It transforms the material, creates something new, and burns away the old. Earth symbolizes the foundation, substance, and structure of a work, made visible through artistic craftsmanship. Water flows and changes forms, bringing movement and life into the art. Finally, air, used in the airbrush technique, gives the work lightness and allows the colors to blend subtly.
In my private studio, my creative retreat, I consciously use these elements to create works characterized by their versatility and depth. These works reflect the idea of QuantumNature – an art form based on the principle of constant change and renewal. Each work created here undergoes its metamorphosis, reshapes itself, and gains a unique expression.
Some of these works remain in my studio, preserving their uniqueness, while others travel the world to inspire viewers. But one thing is certain: each work exudes the essence of QuantumNature – the idea that art and creativity are never static. They invite the viewer to find space for their inspiration, dive into the depths of change, and recognize transformation as a central element of art.
My goal is to create works that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also reflect constant change and growth. If a work can take the viewer on a journey of their transformation, I, as an artist, have fulfilled my task.
